1. Eat your veggies
“Getting at least nine servings of vegetables and/or fruits daily fuels your body with antioxidants, which keeps your cells younger, which hopefully translates to keeping you from aging quickly,” says Registered Dietitian Jill Nussinow.

2. It may not have worked for Dracula, but who cares?!
“Eat garlic as often as you can — both raw and cooked. It keeps your blood flowing well,” says Nussinow.

3. The perfect H2O
“Ionized water makes the body more alkaline and will hydrate your system and provide high antioxidants at the same time,” says Stephanie Tippie, host of the online weekly radio program “Aging Younger.”

4. Don’t imbibe, stay alive!
Not only is alcohol bad for your liver, but it can also damage your skin due to increased blood flow.

5. Juice it
The vitamins and minerals found in many juices help build up your immune system. Orange juice is a good source of Vitamin C; apple juice can help reduce memory loss; GoChi is a goji berry juice that has been known to enhance quality of sleep and promote easier wakening.

6. Give your brain time to connect with your intestines
It’s been said that it takes an average of 20 minutes for your brain to realize you’ve eaten. So eat slower and try not to stuff yourself.

“The most valuable anti-aging products are sunscreen and antioxidants,” explains Dr. Susan Van Dyke, an Arizona dermatologist. Opt for a sunscreen that contains an SPF of 30 or higher, which will partially block or absorb the aging UV rays before they hit your skin. And for a boost of antioxidants, which help neutralize destructive molecules in the skin generated by UV rays that escape your sunscreen blockade, look for products containing coffee, berries, vitamin C, and idebenone, says Van Dyke.

9. Give your skin life
Moisturizing is important no matter what your skin type. Makeup artists across the world will tell you that it prevents wrinkles and fine lines. If you find that your skin is dry, a moisturizer will keep your face nourished and prevent flaking. Oily skin, believe it or not, still requires a moisturizer. If you don’t use one, your face will overcompensate and produce too much oil. To get even more protection, use a moisturizer with an SPF.

10. Exfoliate
Moisturizing is a great idea, but it’s incomplete if you don’t exfoliate. Opening up your pores and ridding yourself of dead skin can help promote softer, healthier skin. But be careful not to overdo it, as exfoliating improperly or too frequently can cause sensitivity and irritation.

11. Get the patch
“Don’t smoke,” says Dr. Brooke Jackson of the Skin Wellness Center of Chicago. “Aside from the risk of lung cancer, smoking dramatically ages skin, giving it a sallow, yellow look. It also causes fine lines around the mouth that will make your lipstick bleed. Tobacco will also stain teeth, making you look older.”

12. Use mineral makeup
“This covers a multitude of sins and is gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin types. Mineral makeup also provides sun protection and is great for patients with rosacea,” says Dr. Jackson.
